Proposed Fishtown KENSINGTON Area BiD
In the summer of 2018, area residents, business and property owners and others came together to explore creating a Business Improvement District to plan and fund services to improve and preserve our neighborhood.
Using the results of the BID Survey completed by 529 respondents identifying services that would be the most beneficial for the community, the Steering Committee drafted our BID Services and Budget, which was presented for feedback and Q&A at 2 community meetings before being submitted to City Council. Please be advised that owner-occupied homes and condos would not pay an assessment.
The Steering Committee of the proposed FKABID has always strived to be inclusive and respectful of the community as we developed our plan to bring improvements to our area. In this spirit, we expanded our name to the Fishtown Kensington Area BID in August 2019.
Our BID is in the final stages of creation and we recently offered one more Community Meeting Presentation with Q&A on September 24 at Lutheran Settlement House. Next we will appear before the Rules Committee on October 16 in City Council, Room 400, for our Public Hearing, where all are welcome to offer testimony and at which point our objection period begins. If you own or rent a property in the district you should have received a packet in the mail from the Clerk’s office the week of September 16, but all information is posted here as well (please see links below for all info from the packet).
We look forward to hearing from you and continuing to receive feedback. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to send an email to email@example.com
